I have tons of spaghetti squash and decided to employ the seeds in this recipe. They turned out not bad! Has a taste & smell of popcorn. Being type 2 diabetic, it is a nifty snack food. Could not believe how many vitamins and minerals this snack has. It has to be one of the almost nutritional foods around!

I have never had pumpkin seeds earlier, but I had squash on paw when I saw this recipe and thought I would try it. They were very good. I couldn't cease eating them. Yum!

This would be five stars if information technology included these changes: 1) Don't rinse the seeds, they taste better with their own juices 2) Soak in a fleck of salty h2o for awhile to plump up the seeds three) Bleed water just still don't rinse four) Let air dry before baking. If you don't have time for the soaking, at least don't rinse them and allow them dry longer earlier baking. They just turn out ameliorate if they are dry before blistering. My favorite are carnival squash seeds. Pumpkin seeds pale in comparison to all the other wintertime squash available!
08/17/2007
Quick and piece of cake. I just turned the oven temp down after roasting my squash, and popped the prepared seeds in. 15 minutes later, the snack is washed!
10/05/2007
Very addicting and a dandy idea, especially right now when squash is cheap. I use butternut squash seeds. I like to put the raw seeds in a covered basin w/the olive oil and some seasoned (Lawry'due south) common salt. I brand them in my pizza oven, so I have to continuously stir, some become a fiddling burnt, but it adds to the season!
10/eleven/2004
I used PAM cooking spray instead of the olive oil and it came out simply fine. Really skillful!
12/09/2006
What a treat I could accept given the men in the Navy and Marines when I was cooking for them. I have thrown out tons and tons of seeds back and so. We didn't use pumpkins often but acorn and butternut were staples. I used acorn to try this made with canola oil and won't throw out seeds anymore! Nifty Idea.
09/07/2007
i wondered if they're plough out like pumpkin seeds and yes they did only a trivial smaller. at 275 for 15 minutes turned out perfect. used cooking spray instead of olive oil.
09/24/2007

Made some of my favorite squash today, butternut, and decided to expect on line to see if the seeds could be cooked similar the pumpkin seeds. I found this recipe and followed it but had to cut back on the oil/salt because my squash didn't give me quite a cup! My DH loved it!!!! Quick easy and delicious. You can use any fourth dimension of flavoring you like--cinammon & carbohydrate, garlic pulverisation, cayenne pepper, chili powder, etc....possibilities are endless. Cheers Blancheskid.....

These were peachy. A rich nutty taste and and then healthy. My kids loved them...
04/23/2012
I used lemon-infused oil and bounding main table salt, and the flavour was fantastic. Nevertheless, I don't really recollect this was long enough/hot plenty to create crunchy seeds. They're a little too pulpy still for me.
eleven/01/2012
I was recently making a butternut squash recipe from this site and started thinking how much I loved pumpkin seeds and how these seeds looked similar. Before even looking at this recipe, I had rinsed and removed them from their pulp (much easier than removal from pumpkin pulp...just kind of squeeze the lurid and they pop out), added some ocean salt to them while still wet, then tossed them in the oven at 400 while the squash was cooking. You Do Not need oil or cooking spray! And y'all tin cook at a higher temp. Just stir in the spices you want while they are even so moisture, so toss them in a single layer, on tinfoil on a blistering canvass. Stir with a fork every 5 or 10 minutes and taste until you find the consistency you similar. I personally like just body of water salt as you don't lose the nutty gustation of the seeds and did 25 minutes at 400. So nutty and tasty!!!!!

No need to add oil to roast any seeds. I wash them and pick out every bit much pulp as I have the patience for. Then sprinkle with common salt while they're wet. Roast in a 350 degree oven until brown, stirring every 5 or x minutes until all seeds are very chocolate-brown and crispy. Takes nigh 30 minutes. YUM.
02/25/2010
A great variation is to add a sprinkle of curry pulverisation and cayenne ----- gives it a bit of taste of the sub continent! ;-)
xi/06/2011
Delicious and Addictive! As others suggested I dry roasted them for about 35 minutes, then added seasoning (paprika and table salt).
12/09/2011
I just made these....while supper was cooking. Dear them! I used olive oil since the oven temp was low, but I think side by side fourth dimension I'll use my grapeseed oil, since it's a medium to loftier rut oil that does not turn into the bad stuff like olive oil does when used in medium/high heat.... [my husband ate most of them after supper]
10/xi/2010
YUM YUM!! Who would accept known these were and so tasty! They are like miniature pumpkin seeds. I am merely deplorable that I don't have more than. My kids are merely about to walk in the door on this well-baked fall mean solar day from school and they will devour them! If just more people knew!
ten/12/2008
These seeds are delicious! I fished the seeds out of a mini-squash and did them in my toaster oven, and they were gone in an hour.
eleven/29/2008
I didn't utilise the oil or table salt either. I didn't dry the seeds completly; simply left them a bit damp and threw them in the oven. They don't 'pop' without the oil I guess, but I leave them in for 15-xx minutes and they're done. They don't stick for me, and I don't use cooking spray either.
ten/25/2011
Yum! I used acorn squash seeds and they turned out and then tasty. I didn't use oil, just sprayed the seeds with a little cooking spray afterwards I put them on the blistering sheet. Stirred every five minutes and they came out perfectly. And then many flavors you lot could exercise with this... I'm going to do Cajun next. Thank you!!!
12/17/2011
Yummy! I'd add together less common salt for my personal taste side by side time. I threw in a compression of cayenne. That was an fifty-fifty better ideas than I thought it would be. If you like spicy snacks, I'd highly recommend that.
01/09/2014
At 275 degrees for fifteen minutes the seeds were still dense and were not crispy. I did utilise the same amount of olive oil and some seasoning common salt and the mixture was tasty. I ended upward using my oven at 350 degrees for closer to 25 minutes and they crisped upwardly just fine. I will accept to do another batch to become the verbal timing. I wanted to notation that squash seeds are very healthy for women and help contribute to a hormone we have called DHEA. DHEA is a hormone that helps us with our energy levels.
09/28/2010
skillful recipe :)
12/12/2011
I had some organic acorn squash seeds leftover from preparing my x calendar month sometime girl's baby food. Decided to roast the seeds rather than toss them and they were very good. I bet you could experiment with a variety of seasonings (cinnamon, nutmeg, parmesan cheese, popcorn seasoning, chocolate-brown saccharide or honey) for dissimilar tastes; plain with olive oil is perfect to me, though!
11/22/2010
These are perfect equally-is, although about recently, I added a sprinkling of cumin earlier baking. I used the seeds equally a garnish for my butternut squash soup. Squeamish fiddling crunch!
01/08/2011

09/18/2012

10/09/2008

ten/17/2010
YUM! I'd never thought to use the seeds from squash. I tried it with acorn squash and it was Groovy! My seeds were a bit small and so they just took about x minutes until they started popping. Also added some garlic powder & cayenne - almost any seasoning could probably be added. I volition non be throwing out my squash seeds any time in the future!
10/29/2011
I wasn't certain the trouble of sorting and cleaning the seeds would be worth it merely these are very expert. I used a combination of spaghetti squash and acorn squash seeds, a bit of olive oil and garlic salt.
11/10/2010
These are expert! I am allergic to corn (therefore no popcorn) so these are a great substitute! My merely result is that I had to bake them for 35 minutes in social club for them to "popular" instead of the listed 15. Worth the wait though.
eleven/17/2006
Never had squash seeds before...simply pumpkin. I think these are better than pumpkin seeds. (I used butternut squash) Thansk WEBBDIONFAM!

08/07/2012
So piece of cake, so good. I roasted my spaghetti squash seeds for xv minutes at 350 degrees on a pan beneath the pan which held the squash halves roasting. The seeds were delicious! I concord with the person who said they're like popcorn. Mmmm. Subsequently rinsing in a bowl I patted off the seeds on a kitchen towel, which helped pick upward some of the stray squash innards. I volition definitely make this once again whenever I have fresh squash! (Update: made again with seeds from pie pumpkin, and the seeds bake for 15 min at 350 whether or non I take anything else in the oven.)

11/25/2012
Like other reviewers said, the cook time isn't enough. I used melted butter and Franks hot sauce with the seeds. Information technology took nigh 45 minutes to accomplish the desired crispness. The key is to taste the seeds every ten minutes or then until they are just correct. Then you know how long to cook them.
08/16/2010
Yummy and then healthy for you, who couldn't love these? I've never made them myself earlier until now, I recollect 1tbsp oil per loving cup may be too much because mine came out of the oven still wet, just they will probably dry equally I go out them out. But I tasted i simply in case and they taste cracking! Only iv/5 because of the wetness, could exist my bad though.
10/15/2009

xi/14/2008

Simple and delicious. I didn't alter a matter.
08/13/2011
Great ... I used bounding main salt, which turned out to be a footling TOO salty ... I'd propose keeping the oil and the salt to a minimum. Mine never "popped," even later on 25 minutes, but that might be considering I'k at a high altitude. Still adept, though!
11/14/2010

Meh. Can't agree a candle to pumpkin seeds. I tried this recipe twice. One time, I boiled the seeds for 10 min. in salted water like you do with pumpkin seeds to brand them crispier; one time exactly every bit the recipe states. The first time, they popped but the shells remained tough and inedible. The 2nd time, they didn't pop and were burned in xiv minutes. I don't get it... I recollect I'll go back to putting them in the compost and hoping they grow :/
08/09/2020
